Many jobs are open to recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.

Library of Congress Internships are offered to college students throughout the Library of Congress. Summer internships are available to both undergraduate and graduate students who want an opportunity to gain professional work experience. There are many internships, fellowships, and volunteer program opportunities throughout the Library. Interested students may search the web site by choosing their areas of interest. Positions can be either paid or unpaid. Summer internships can range from 10 weeks up to 12 months. Work schedules can be either part-time or full-time.

NOAA Internships are offered through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, a scientific agency within the United States Department of Commerce. Summer internships are available to both undergraduate and graduate students, and high school students. The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office, in partnership with the Chesapeake Research Consortium, offers several paid summer internships that focus on scientific field research to resource management and policy. It is for college-level students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of undergraduate study.

Prince William County Internships are available to students who are at least 18 years of age and juniors or seniors in college. Applicants must be in good academic standing and of good moral character. Candidates may obtain credit hours for this internship as it is an unpaid summer internship. To apply, students must submit a completed application, cover letter, grade transcript, and a letter of recommendation from a college faculty member or Department Chair. Any student who applies cannot be convicted of any felony or misdemeanor of any serious nature.

United States Government Internships offer paid, summer internships to students who are at least 16 years old. Internships are available to high school students, and students enrolled in an accredited college or university. All candidates must be accepted for enrollment OR enrolled in a degree program with an accredited educational institution. Summer internships are in Washington, D.C. and are temporary 12-week summer internship positions with an intermittent work schedule. Many positions include pay.

Global Ties U.S. Internships are offered to rising undergraduate juniors through graduate level students interested in working within the non-profit industry. Summer internships are available, as well as internships in the Spring and Fall. Students must be able to work for one academic semester. Internships are unpaid, volunteer positions; however, students may arrange to receive academic credit for their internship. Interns who complete their semester internship will receive a stipend to help defray internship-related expenses, including transportation costs to and from the Global Ties U.S. office.

The Office of Barack and Michelle Obama Internship Program is a 16-week internship program in Washington, D.C. This is an exciting summer internship opportunity for college students to work for the former President and First Lady. The internship position prefers students who can work full-time during the 16-week internship. Interns will work on a variety of tasks, with an emphasis on correspondence duties. The purpose of the Office of Barack and Michelle Obama is to enable them as citizens to work with other American citizens to bring about change.

Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) Internships are available to first-year (second-semester), second-year and third-year law students; joint degree and LL M students are also eligible to apply. Positions are volunteer legal internships. Internships are offered at ENRD offices in Washington, DC; Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; Sacramento, CA; Boston, MA; and Seattle, WA. The number of interns hired vary according to location and semester. Interns help prepare cases, conduct legal research, draft pleadings, discovery, and memoranda of law relating to federal environmental and natural resource issues.

Wilson Center Internships are offered to current, recent, or returning college students. Two different internship programs are available, and each one has its own separate application and deadlines. Summer internships are available, as well as internships in the Spring and Summer. Research Assistant Interns work as research assistants or scholar interns for visiting scholars. They work about 15-20 hours per week. Research assistant internships are best suited for college students planning to continue on into graduate studies, or for college students who want gain a deeper understanding of their field of study.

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Internship Program is open to high school students, current college students, and post graduate adults seeking skills for a new career. Several summer internship programs are available. The Summer Affirmative Action Internship Program (SAAIP) is a paid summer internship program offered by the State of Wisconsin. The internship is for racial/ethnic minorities, female students, and students with disabilities and provides them with an opportunity to work in a professional work environment within Wisconsin state government.

USAID Internships are open to high school students, and students attending a two- or four-year college, university, vocational or technical school, or other certificate program. Applicants must be attending school at least on a half time basis. Paid, summer internships are available to students during the summer and at other times during the year. Candidates must have a GPA of 3.0 or above in order to apply. Two types of paid summer internships are available. The first type allows students to explore Federal careers through internships that provide valuable work experience directly related to their academic field of study. These interns may be eligible for permanent employment after successfully completing their education and meeting work requirements.

Illinois Government Internships and Fellowships are offered to college and graduate students, as well as college graduates. Internships offer great opportunities for students to experience firsthand the inner workings of government in the state of Illinois. Summer internships are available across several government offices, enabling college students to find work experience that pertains to their area of study. Candidates must be college juniors or seniors, or graduate students in good academic standing who are attending an accredited college or university. Applicants must have a study concentration in the area for which they are applying for an internship.

The Washington Center Internship Program offers college students a summer internship in Washington, D.C. Internships are offered across almost all fields and sectors, regardless of students' majors and professional interests. Applicants must be currently attending an accredited college or university and be a sophomore or above during the term of their internship. They must have a GPA of 2.75 or above and be at least 18 years old. While some internships may include a stipend, most are unpaid. Students may receive academic credit from their college or university for their participation in the internship.

SAMHSA Internship Program is open to all college students who have completed their freshman year of college before the internship begins. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply; students who have graduated within the last 12 months may also apply. Candidates must have interest in and experience in the following areas: Public Health, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Public Policy, Business Communications, Business Administration, and Information Technology. All candidates must have a GPA of 3.0 or above. They must also be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.

Seattle City Light Internship Program is available to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational program leading to an undergraduate or graduate degree; candidates must be in good standing at their college or university. Preferred candidates are those who are considering a profession related to some aspect of the City of Seattle's business objectives. Summer internships are full time positions. Some summer internships also offer pay; this will be indicated in the job description. Students who work full-time during the summer do not have to be enrolled in classes; however they must be returning to school and pre-registered for the fall term.

EPA Student Internships are available to high school students and college students. Internship positions range from administrative/clerical positions as well as technical positions in areas such as life sciences, program or policy analysis, and engineering. Summer internships are paid opportunities for students to learn more about the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Summer internships are offered in Washington, D.C. as well as in regional offices, labs and research centers throughout the nation. Internships are paid, although some may be volunteer.

Congressional Budget Office Internships are offered to college students pursuing a graduate degree in economics, public policy, health policy, finance, or a related field. Internships are also offered in other disciplines, such as budget and financial management, information technology, communications, and human resources. Summer internships are awarded to students based on academic achievement, relevant work experience, and academic training aligned with the work of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). Summer internships provide opportunities to learn by attending seminars, including the Congressional Summer Intern Lecture Series, which has featured former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and journalist Cokie Roberts.
