Description The Student Nursing Assistant Program is a pathway for individuals wanting to begin their direct caregiver career at the hospital. The program has four phases. Caregivers will move through phases as appropriate to current scope (pre-nursing assistant program entry, active Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) license, completion of program, and awaiting Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) licensure). The student nursing assistant will function under the direct supervision of the Manager, Program Supervisor, or designee and within the scope of practice that the Manager, Supervisor, or designee has determined is appropriate based upon the current scope and skills. Prior to entry in a nursing assistant program, while enrolled in a nursing assistant program, and/or upon completion of a nursing assistant program and prior to licensure, or while enrolled in a nursing assistant program, the Student Nursing Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure that the assigned patient(s) remains safe. The Student Nursing Assistant will document all patient care activities. The Student Nursing Assistant may also perform non-direct patient care duties as assigned. Successful completion of an approved nursing assistant program and the national Nurse Aid Assessment Program certification test in conjunction with remaining an employee in good standing, will qualify for entry into a regular classification as a NAC.
