Fannie Mae Internships

Fannie Mae Internships are offered to college students who are pursuing careers in accounting, finance and the law. Internships last 8-12 weeks and are generally held during the summer.

Auditing Interns will provide support for various auditing functions in the mortgage, finance, credit and technology divisions. Students should have strong analytical and communication skills and have an interest in auditing or the secondary mortgage industry. Finance Interns will perform financial analysis and prepare financial reports. Candidates for this internship must be accounting majors with an interest in obtaining a CPA license.


Legal Internships are for students in their second year of law school. Applicants must be available to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the following school year. Fannie Mae Internships are located in Washington, D.C. Qualified students may speak to Fannie Mae recruiters during campus visits or submit their application online.

Internships are offered by the Federal National Mortgage Association (FNMA), also known as Fannie Mae. The company was established in 1938 during the Great Depression to provide local banks with federal money to finance home mortgages. Their goal was to increase home ownership and affordable housing. It is a government-sponsored program that increases the availability and affordability of housing for low-, moderate- and middle-income Americans.
