J. Craig Venter Institute Internship Program
J. Craig Venter Institute Internship Program is open to high school students as well as college undergraduate and graduate students. Internship positions are available in science as well as communications, library and environmental health and safety areas.
Internships are offered during the summer and during semesters. The Summer Internship Program is a full-time employment program with students working 40 hours per week. The Semester Internship Program is a 12-week, part-time employment program with students working no more than 20 hours per week. Students are paid but are required to make their own housing arrangements.
Over 30 students are selected every year to work at the Institute. Interns are mentored by members of the Institute's faculty or senior staff. Science research interns will work in modern technology labs with state-of-the-art equipment. They will do research on human genomic medicine, infectious disease, plant, microbial and environmental genomics, biology and other areas.
The J. Craig Venter Institute was founded in 2006 and is dedicated to gene research and biological science. Their work is focused on helping to prevent global infectious diseases. Internships are offered at locations in Rockville, Maryland and San Diego, California.
