We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering / Bio-Medical Engineering Co-op / Intern. This position is located in Akron, Ohio for 20-30 hours per week. This position is based on-site in the plant and will have the opportunity to interact with other team members.The Engineering Co-op / Intern will support and co-lead projects across multi-functional teams. Intern will utilize Lean / six-sigma process improvement methods to reduce costs and increase plant productivity. The projects include working with various business functions such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain and warehousing, Planning and Scheduling, Quality, and other functions based on company's priorities. We believe that internships are a vital part of your education and growth. Therefore, we work hard in training, coaching, and mentoring the candidates on assigned projects that are not only built upon your previous classes, but also provide strong foundation to cope up with the challenges in your future professions. This position will include introduction to numerous disciplines and skillsets that typically comprise a project team so that the candidate will gain better understanding of planning and managing a project. What You'll Do:Learn, review, and improve Standard Work opportunities and 5S across the plant Shadow and support Project leads in Kaizen events focusing on cost savings or productivity improvements Coordinate, and facilitate process improvements that align with the Plant objectives, CI goals and business productivity goals Participate and support Lean Daily Management process Conduct Time studies, analyze data, and use CI Tools/Templates for effective decision making Help project leads in Project Management Provide assistance in creating accurate floorplans Work with Engineering to update EPICOR ERP system BOM and Master Methods.
