This is a reality for AbbVie’s Interns. The Pharmacovigilance, Patient Safety, Epidemiology, and Quality (PSEQ) organization works collaboratively and strategically with colleagues across the product lifecycle to identify, evaluate, understand, and communicate the safety profile and ensure quality standards of AbbVie products to protect patients worldwide. The Strategic Operations team plays a critical role in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing strategic projects, operations, and business process initiatives across the PSEQ organization. The team is a high-profile, high-impact team that works with PSEQ functions on a range of critical initiatives - from executing cross-functional safety process improvement initiatives to driving our strategic roadmap. As a member of the team, you are at the forefront of working with senior leaders to identify critical priorities and drive high-value projects that make an impact on business performance. Key responsibilities include: The Data Office - Data Analytics Intern will play a role in brainstorming and innovative ideation to develop strategies, techniques, and processes. The Intern will gain hands-on experience in data analytics and contribute to projects that involve analyzing complex data sets to extract meaningful insights through machine learning and application of visualization techniques. The role will work closely with experienced professionals to collect, clean, and analyze data, and assist in the development and implementation of data analytics strategies. The assignment is highly exploratory with the expectation to deliver on key efficiency initiatives to demonstrate the Intern’s capabilities. The Intern can expect to: Conduct exploratory data analysis to gain insights and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies Perform statistical analysis and create visualizations using statistical or visualization tools (e.g. R, Python, Spotfire, Power BI) to present data insights Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various sources for analysis Collaborate with the team to define and answer key business questions through data analysis Support the team in creating reports and presentations to communicate findings, results, and recommendations to stakeholders Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data analytics and related technologies Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data analytics and machine learning into decision-making processes Minimum Qualifications Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Data Analytics, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field Must be enrolled in university during the internship period Expected graduation date between August 2024-August 2026 Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and data visualization principles Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets Basic understanding of databases and SQL for data manipulation Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with machine learning concepts and techniques Proficiency in data mining and extraction techniques Understanding of data governance and data quality principles Demonstrated ability to design and develop strategies for the use of Business Intelligence and Analytical tools (such as R, Python, Spotfire) Benefits and Amenities Competitive pay Travel, transportation, and lodging support for eligible students Equal Employment Opportunity At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
