Research Science Institute Summer Science and Engineering Program is offered each year to the most accomplished high school students. The program takes place at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Each year, the program accepts 80 of the brightest high school students to join them in a summer of learning. The Research Science Institute (RSI) is offered at no cost to eligible students. RSI gives students a unique opportunity to apply their course work to real work in science and technology research.

Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is open to high school and college, graduate or Medical and Dental Students. The summer lab research experience focuses exclusively on biomedical research and training. The internship is ten weeks long and takes place between June and August. Interns will work under the guidance of an NHLBI research scientist. High school students must be 16 years old or older before the start of the internship. All applicants must be citizens of the U.S. or permanent residents and be enrolled full-time in high school, college, professional or graduate school. They must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke's Summer Program in the Neurological Sciences offers a unique program for high school students as well as undergraduate, graduate, and medical students to work in a neuroscience research center. Students will receive top-notch training from leading scientists in the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke Division of Intramural Research. Students may work at one of the labs located in Bethesda and Rockville, Maryland and Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Students interested in a career in the biomedical sciences or clinical research in the neurological sciences will find this a rewarding and valuable summer work experience. It will provide an opportunity for them to combine their classroom knowledge with hands-on, practical experience.

Science & Engineering Apprenticeship Programs (SEAP) give students in grades 9-12 an opportunity to work with a Department of Navy laboratory on research projects and also receive a stipend. Participating labs are located in many states throughout the U.S. Internships last eight weeks during the summer at one of 20 Department of Navy labs. Over 200 students each year are chosen to participate in the internships. Eligible students must be at least 16 years old and have completed grade 9. Students must have an interest in science and engineering research.

National Security Agency Internships are available to high school seniors with an interest in a career within a government security agency. Two internship programs are available. The Gifted and Talented Program STEM for High School is open to high school seniors with high aptitude in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Students applying for this program must have a grade point average of 3.5 or above, and a minimum of 1600 on the SAT or 25 on the ACT. They must be pursuing a computer science or engineering course.

Schlumberger Internships offer college students practical work experience in the areas of business, information technology, engineering and human resources. Both undergraduate and graduate students may apply. Some internships will require students to be working on an advanced degree, such as business consulting positions. Other internships, including human resources and other office-based positions, require students to have completed their second year of undergraduate work in geology, geophysics, computer science, telecommunications, or engineering.

Autodesk Internships are designed to give students work experience in 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software. Students with a passion for technology and a desire to work for an innovative company are encouraged to apply. Whether students are interested in software engineering and development or product design and testing, they are certain to find a challenging work experience at Autodesk. Applicants must be full-time students pursuing a bachelors or masters degree at an accredited college or university in the U.S. They must be majoring in a technology field such as software engineering and architecture or computer science.

Juniper Networks Internships give college students practical experience in technical and non-technical fields. Students must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Many positions require undergraduate students to be in their second or third year of college. Positions are offered in technical areas, such as software engineering and technical support, or non-technical positions in marketing, communications and business. Students applying need to be highly motivated, self-starters and enjoy working in a technical environment.

NetApp Internships are offered to undergraduate and graduate students in both technical and non-technical areas. Summer internships give students real work experience across many business focus areas. Students interested in technical careers will find internships in software engineering, information technology, and other technical areas. Non-technical positions are available in business, finance, human resources, sales and marketing.

BlackRock Intern Programs offer college students work experience in the areas of Advisory & Client Support, Analytics & Risk, Corporate, Investments, Client Business, and Technology. The program gives business and finance students a challenging summer work opportunity and a chance to learn and grow. The internship is 10 weeks in duration and is offered during the summer. Interns receive on-the-job training and challenging projects. Their experience includes a team portfolio challenge and an innovation challenge. They will also be mentored by experienced professionals and gain valuable networking opportunities.

Nvidia Internships are for college students working toward a degree in computer science, computer engineering or electrical engineering. This is a paid internship for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns will be assigned a mentor and receive hands-on experience in Software, Hardware, Architecture, Systems and Applications, Technical Marketing and Information Technology. They will work with some of the brightest minds in the industry and be encouraged to make their own contributions to the team.

Palantir Internships are offered to college undergraduate and graduate students interested in careers within the software technology field. Internship positions are available in software engineering, business development, technical writing, and design. Internships are offered in three locations -- California, New York and Washington, D.C. The internships are offered during the summer. Candidates should have a passion for technology and an interest in solving problems. They should also enjoy working with teams that work hard but also like to play.

Rolls-Royce Internships offer paid work experiences for college students across a wide range of business areas. Each year the company places more than 350 students in internship positions. The Comcast Center Internship Program (CCIP) offers a summer work experience for college undergraduates across many disciplines. Interns will receive coaching and an opportunity to test their classroom skills in a professional environment. Students may apply for positions within Business Operations, Technical Operations, Analytics, Marketing, Communications and Human Resources. They will not only work with experienced professionals but also attend speaker series, workshops that build their skills, and increase their networking opportunities.

Twitter Internships are offered to qualified college seniors and recent graduates. They are available to students with proficient computer skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced technology environment. Positions are offered in the areas of marketing, communications, software engineering, product design/development/marketing, legal, and corporate. Students applying must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, preferably at a top-tier university; computer science or engineering background is a plus.

Library of Congress Junior Fellows Summer Intern Program offers a 10-week, paid internship for both undergraduate and graduate college students. The experience will place students in touch with some of the oldest records of human history. Interns will participate in managing digital records and inventory, arranging and cataloging historical records, and preserving special collections. Interns will be participating in an important project that serves to protect historical information for future generations.

Bain & Company Associate Consultant Intern Program offers a 10-week paid internship for undergraduate and graduate students which gives them exposure to the consulting industry and hands-on training in preparation for a career as a management consultant. Students may choose to work in Boston, Beijing, Zurich or 50 other locations. More than 100 interns are offered internship positions each year. Interns will work with experienced consultants and learn business strategies, receive training and be assigned real consultant cases for real clients.
