How To Apply

Applying for an internship is actually very easy! However, the application process will vary for each internship program. Sometimes, only an application itself is required. Others will request a resume, your high school or college transcripts, and even an essay submission. Some will even want a teacher recommendation.

Once you have identified the internship(s) for you, the next step is to review the programs in detail and then prioritize your list. When you submit your application, be sure to follow all directions precisely. The smallest mistake can disqualify your application.

Afterwards, keep a record of the date that you contacted each program, who you corresponded with, and any other important deadlines and submission dates. Also, include a column to confirm when and where your application was sent. Follow up is extremely important, and sending a "thank you" card is always a plus!

Remember, hundreds of other students are applying for the same internships, so make sure you consistently call back to check the status of your application. The process may seem overwhelming at first but the results will be well worth the time and effort expended. It is also excellent practice in preparing for your first post-graduate employment search.
