Minority and Women Internships

To increase diversity amongst their employees, many companies, organizations and government agencies offer internship programs that specifically target minorities (African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans), and women of all ethnicities. Such programs are generally designed to create an ethnic balance at a company or agency, and make up for years and years of racial and gender discrimination.

If you are a woman or a minority, these internships can benefit you greatly. Many of these programs are already partnering with professional groups (National Association of Women, National Association of Black Engineers, etc) that cater to minority professionals, and they are very serious about hiring for part-time, full-time, short-term, and long-term positions. Even better, a company with a minority internship program is very likely to hire you as a manager or executive to diversify their upper ranks.
