ESSENCE
Internship Program

Essence Communications
Inc. Summer Internship Program is a 9-week paid learning process
where you'll receive on the job training that will enhance your
education and begin to prepare you for your future career. We
are currently looking for senior, graduate level or students who
have recently graduated. You must have an appreciation for the
magazine industry, be self-motivated and extremely detail-oriented.
Positions are available in both the Publishing and Editorial departments.
To apply for
an internship at ESSENCE, you must submit a completed application,
resume and a writing sample or a digital portfolio. Interns will
receive a bi-weekly stipend. Interns will be assigned to one department
but will be exposed to other areas of the company.
Interns are expected
to find their own housing. We suggest you contact your school’s
career center for information on temporary housing in the New
York City area. You may also want to contact local colleges and
universities to ask about renting a dormitory room for the summer.
The program usually
runs from the beginning of June until the first week of August.
All materials submitted to ESSENCE become the property of Essence
Communications Inc. and will be kept on file for 3 months.
