United States Government Internships offer paid, summer internships to students who are at least 16 years old. Internships are available to high school students, and students enrolled in an accredited college or university.

All candidates must be accepted for enrollment OR enrolled in a degree program with an accredited educational institution. Summer internships are in Washington, D.C. and are temporary 12-week summer internship positions with an intermittent work schedule. Many positions include pay.

Students may choose to participate in any number of positions offered through the Architect Of The Capitol (AOC), responsible for the maintenance, operation, development and preservation of 17.4 million square feet of buildings and more than 553 acres of land throughout Capitol Hill. AOC internship positions are paid and include office clerk, gardener aide, horticulture aide, architecture or engineering aide, curator aide, records and archives, and more.

Other U.S. government internships are offered through various U.S. government offices, such as the National Science Foundation, Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Department of the Treasury, and many more. Some may include pay and others may be volunteer work for experience.

All summer internship positions will help students gain knowledge about the United States Government and its agencies. Students will also have an opportunity to explore our nation's capitol.
