District Leadership Program (DLP) is a paid internship program for undergraduate and graduate students with preference given to students residing in Washington D.C. and have graduated from a D.C. high school. Internships are paid.

Candidates must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and be a junior or senior undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing at a U.S. college or university. The internship offers a wide area of assignments that are related to government operation. These can include Human Capital Management, Finance and Budgeting, Information Technology, Legal, Contracting and Procurement, Small and Local Business and Economic Development, Legislative Affairs, Health and Human Services, Education, and Performance Management.

The program has two cycles which include a 12-week summer program from June to August, and a year-round program that runs between October to May. To apply, students must submit a completed application along with a grade transcript, professional resume, letter of recommendation, and the completion of three essay questions.

The internship program is offered by the District of Columbia Department of Human Resources. The purpose of the program is to provide college students with on-the-job training and experiences they can apply to their future challenges and professional as well as personal pursuits.

The location is usually in DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
