Global News General Assignment Internship

Global News General Assignment Internship
Global News General Assignment Internship is a paid, highly selective, 12-week individually tailored training program for students who are planning careers as journalists. U.S. and international students, and recent graduates, may apply.

To be eligible, applicants must be undergraduate juniors or seniors, or graduate students. All applicants must be attending school full-time and be within two years of getting their degree. Interns will receive training and experience in various journalistic video formats, including text, photos and interactive/graphics. They will cover breaking news and will be given a final project to complete which may be selected to be featured in media outlets around the world.

Up to 16 students are selected as interns each year. To apply, they must submit a 300-word autobiographical essay on a selected topic and also include a cover letter, resume, various work samples, and a letter of reference from an employer or previous internship.

The internship is offered by Associated Press (AP), one of the largest and most trusted sources of independent newsgathering. AP is a not-for-profit news cooperative owned by its American newspaper and broadcast members.

The location is usually in DC.
