US Department of State Virtual Student Foreign Service eIntern Positions and Jobs
The Virtual Student Foreign Service (VSFS) program offers eInternships for college students interested in working on diplomacy projects for the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The internships cover a full academic year and are for experience and are unpaid.

Students may apply from their freshman year on. They can be either part-time or full-time students who are enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students at an accredited U.S. college or university. VSFS is a unique program that offers e-Intern students State Department experience in a virtual setting--without leaving the college campus.


Some of the participating agencies include Department of the Interior, Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of State, American Foreign Service Association, and many more. Applicants may choose up to three when applying. Duties and responsibilities will vary according to the department.

College students may major in any discipline. The eInternship will give all students a hands-on experience within the federal government in the areas of diplomacy, development, journalism, trade, and agriculture.
