UNCF/Marathon Petroleum Internship offers students who have academic achievement an opportunity to participate in a paid summer internship program at Marathon Petroleum Corporation. Eligible students include those studying engineering, finance, accounting, human resources, information technology, marketing, environmental science, supply chain management, and transportation.


The internship is held for 8-10 weeks in the summer at one of Marathon's many locations. Students will work in real jobs within their area and also be assigned a mentor from the corporation to help students gain the most value from their internship. Marathon offers the internship to help train students to compete in the workforce. The company also has a reputation of recruiting the best employees. The internship gives them an opportunity to nurture young students and expose them to corporate career paths at Marathon.

Marathon Petroleum Company is a provider of transportation fuels. It is the fourth largest fuel refiner in the Midwest and also offers fuel products in the Southeast and along the Gulf Coast with a total of 6,100 Marathon locations and 1,460 Speedway stations and convenience stores.

The United Negro College Fund is a non-profit organization that helps more than 60,000 students attend college each year. Through ongoing fundraising efforts, the organization funds scholarships for students from low- and moderate-income families.
